A Cheeky Harare woman who was tired of seeing her husband loafing around got into hot soup last week after she was arrested for beating him for returning from a job-seeking venture empty-handed.

It is understood Mr Benjamin Kayese (25) of Waterfalls unsuccessfully sought employment at companies in a nearby industrial area. On returning home, his wife, Fortunate Kanyandure, questioned why he had returned home early.

Kanyandure (21) got up from her sofa and let loose a thunderous fist, which knocked Kayese on the forehead. The husband later made a police report leading to her arrest.

Last week, she appeared before Mbare magistrate Mrs Letwin Rwodzi, who sentenced her to six months in prison. Three months were, however, suspended on condition she does not commit a similar offence. Ms Emelda Machiridza prosecuted.

Meanwhile, a security guard was arraigned before the same court for allegedly beating his wife for refusing to spend the night with him at his workplace in Highfield.

It is the State’s case that Calisto Kariwo was on night shift and asked his wife to spend the night with him, but she refused, saying she was not feeling well.

Suddenly, Kariwo assaulted her, accusing her of having an extra-marital affair. The security guard pleaded guilty to assault charges and now awaits sentencing.
