A TRIP to visit a loved one by a man from Nguboyenja suburb almost ended in tragedy when he was splashed with boiling water in the face, a Bulawayo magistrate heard yesterday.

Mrs Thobekile Mkhosana-Matimba was told this at the initial appearance of Sitshengisiwe Phiri who is facing a charge of assault.

Phiri (20) of M11 Mzilikazi, who indicated that she was admitting to the charge, was not formally charged and was remanded in custody to 23 November.
The case could not proceed because there was no medical report to assist the court in arriving at an appropriate sentence.

Miss Pauline Watambwa for the State told the court that on 2 November this year, Mr Zenzo Ncube (34) went to M11 Mzilikazi to look for his girlfriend.
He could not locate his girlfriend whose name is not given but found Phiri.

Mr Ncube asked Phiri about the whereabouts of his lover and this did not go down well with Phiri.

It is the State case that Phiri took a pot which had boiling water from the stove, and splashed the water in Mr Ncube’s face.
Mr Ncube made a report to the police leading to Phiri’s arrest
