ALL is set for the Independence Day fund-raising dinner dance to be held at Cape to Cairo Restaurant in Bulawayo today.

The chairperson of the fund-raising sub-committee, Cde Elifasi Mashaba, said Prudence Mabhena, the subject of a documentary that won an Oscar Award in the United States, would grace the event.

“There is going to be a buffet with lots of entertainment as we have four groups which will take turns to entertain the guests. There is going to be braai at the restaurant as part of our fund-raising activities,” said Cde Mashaba.

“Prudence and her band are expected to make a guest appearance at the dinner. Her appearance will afford some of the top politicians in the city, including the Resident Minister Cain Mathema who did not make it to the Joshua Mqabuko International Airport on Monday, to welcome and congratulate her on her achievement.”

Cde Mashaba called on Bulawayo residents to come in their numbers to support the fund-raising initiative. He said those interested in coming for the dinner could buy tickets at the Cape to Cairo Restaurant or Mash Shop along Jason Moyo Street opposite ZB Bank.

“Various items are going to be auctioned as part of the fund-raising and we are also calling for those with donations in kind to come forward so that we assist the less fortunate,” said Cde Mashaba.

He said the fund-raising sub-committee was still looking for a venue for another show during the Easter holidays.

“The show will feature the likes of Roki, Alexio, Dino Mudondo, among other artistes, but we are yet to decide on the venue,” said Cde Mashaba.
He said the show would be in two parts, with one part in the afternoon and another in the evening.

Cde Mashaba said plans were under way to hold another show on the eve of Independence Day.

“We are still working on it but if successful we are going to hold a reggae lovers’ show featuring the country’s reggae artistes. The show will run till the following morning,” he said.
