A COMMUTER omnibus crew in Harare is on the run after allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl who had boarded their vehicle in the city centre en route to her home in Eastlea.

It is understood the incident occurred on the afternoon of September 28. The teenager boarded the omnibus at the Fourth Street bus terminus, becoming the only passenger on board.

It is alleged that the crew drove to an unknown destination where the conductor allegedly raped her while the driver looked on. The two are said to have dumped the girl in central Harare after the abuse. She later reported the matter to the police.

The two men are still at large. Police spokesman Inspector James Sabau said investigations were under way.

“We are still investigating the case and the two have not yet been brought to book,” he said.

Meanwhile, an unknown assailant is said to have raped a 19-year-old girl who got lost while visiting relatives in Highfield, Harare.

According to police, the girl boarded a commuter omnibus in the city centre. She was supposed to drop off at Machipisa Shopping Centre but disembarked at a different bus stop.

On realising that she was lost, the girl asked for directions from passersby. She came across the man who allegedly led her to his home where he allegedly raped her five times.
