A Chivi worker lost an eye during fight with a rival client over a client, a local court heard this week.

Saustina Jimson, 24, had to be rushed to Chivi Hospital after being worked by her colleague Letwin Mapope, 34), with a medical report produced in court as evidence stating that the assault victim has permanently lost sight as a result of the fight.

Mapope denied the assault charge when she appeared before Chivi magistrate Bishard Chineka. She was remanded out of custody to 22 July for trial. Prosecutor Nixon Chamisa told the court that the incident occurred on the night of June 18 this year at Edza Power Night club, Ngundu Growth Point.

The two lady friends were drinking beer while waiting for clients. Court heard that Mapope went to relieve herself and when she returned she found her friend siting with an unidentified male partner.

Mapope started accusing Jimson of snatching her clients as the same male had reportedly hired the previous night. A row ensured between the two resulting in Mapope smashing a beer bottle she was holding on the ground and striking Jimson on her right eye.

Other patrons intervened and restrained Mapope from further assaulting her friend who was already writhing in pain on the ground with blood gushing out of her eye.

Jimson was rushed to hospital, while a report was made to the police, leading to Mapope's arrest.
